Nelson Scoops, a cherished local ice cream shop in Lovingston, Virginia, needed a website that captured their playful brand while providing practical functionality for customers. My challenge was to create a delightful, user-friendly experience that would make visitors crave their delicious treats while also serving as an efficient business tool for the owners.
I started by immersing myself in the Nelson Scoops experience—sampling their ice cream (tough job!), chatting with customers, and understanding the owners' vision for their small business. This research phase was crucial for capturing the essence of their brand: homemade quality, family-friendly atmosphere, and deep community roots.
The design strategy embraced playful elements like ice cream cone graphics and a color palette inspired by their most popular flavors, while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic that ensures easy navigation and accessibility across all devices.
